What Pro-Lifers Must Know about the Miraculous Medal:

“God Charges You With a Mission.”

Thinking their three year old Claire was dead, her dad was shocked to discover Claire lying pinned underneath the dual wheels of a 22 seat bus he was driving. Yet, she suffered little more than grazes and minor bruising. Claire’s mother said, “I had put a Miraculous Medal on her just an hour before.”  Medical specialists are astounded.

What if I revealed to you that heaven sent Pro-Lifers a most powerful gift in a very small package?  St. Maximilian Kolbe declares it a “first rate weapon.”

The Miraculous Medal is the medal Our Blessed Mother, in an apparition, instructed St. Catherine Labouré to make. Did you know that the original name the Blessed Virgin wanted for the Miraculous Medal is the Immaculate Conception Medal? And did you know that the Immaculate Conception Medal is at the very heart of the pro-life spiritual battle?  Let’s discover why.

Why is the Immaculate Conception Medal Is So Important to the Pro-Life Movement?

First, we need to understand the relationship between pro-life and the Immaculate Conception of Mary.*  The Immaculate Conception, as defined by the Church is the “most Blessed Virgin, from the first moment of her conception,” was holy, free from “stain of original sin.”1 God values conception so strongly that he graced Mary, the Mother of God,2 with purity. It makes sense that God graced Mary’s conception because He desired the greatest and perfect Mother for His only Son, Jesus.

Notice that the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary explicitly stresses the importance of her conception and not the moment of her birth.  Everything would change if the dogma were the Immaculate Birth of Mary. The pro-choice movement could point to Mary and say that birth is the most important part of life, justifying their movement.  Yet God showed us the holiness of our own conceptions through Immaculate Mary.  Thus, human life is sacred from its beginning3 and “must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.”4

The Immaculate Conception Medal. “God wishes to charge you with a mission.”

Now that we see the correlation between pro-life and the Immaculate Conception, this brings us back to the Immaculate Conception Medal. To understand the connection we must better understand the medal itself.  In 1830, our Blessed Mother gave St. Catherine Labouré the apparitions of the Immaculate Conception Medal.

Our Lady told the mystic, St. Catherine Labouré, “God wishes to charge you with a mission. You will be contradicted, but do not fear; you will have the grace to do what is necessary.”5 Just like St. Catherine, God charges us with a mission – a Pro-Life Mission! It is no coincidence that the Immaculate Conception Medal preceeded the “culture of death”6 This, as we will later see, was Mary preparing us all for “war”8 that was to lie ahead.

The Immaculate Conception Medal and the Battle Against Abortion

Now let’s look at the medal. The back of the Immaculate Conception Medal is encircled by twelve stars. The stars are a reference to chapter twelve of Revelations where the “crown of twelve stars” represents “the woman (Mary) who was about to bear a child.” “The great red dragon (Satan)… stood before the woman who was about to bear a child (Jesus), that he might devour her child.”  “She brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations.”  The great battle of Revelations twelve continues even today, “the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who…bear testimony to Jesus.” Rev. 12:1-17. Abortion is a major “war” to “her offspring.” Mary mother of all

Now let’s look at the front side of the Immaculate Conception Medal. The image is of Our Lady crushing the head of serpent with her heal while standing on the globe of the earth. “I will put enmity between you (Satan/serpent) and the woman (Eve), and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head while you strike at his heel.”7 This shows us that the battle between Mary and Satan is not finished.  Also, the image displays the strength God gave Mary to aid in the battle.

St. Maximilian Kolbe says, “Because conversion and sanctification are divine graces, the Miraculous Medal will be the best means for reaching our purpose.  For that reason it constitutes a first rate weapon.” “It is the bullet with a faithful soldier cuts down the enemy, that is, evil and thus rescues souls.”

Wearing the Immaculate Conception Medal declares we are in “war” with Mary and Jesus against Satan and abortion.

Sometimes when we view this as “war” and we have a take no prisoner stance.  Let us remember that the war is against Satan himself.  Our pro-life mission is to rescue souls, pro-choice souls.  Scripture reminds us to “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.” Math 5:44-45.

The Immaculate Conception Medal and Prayer

St. Catherine Labouré is told in her apparition, “All who wear it will receive great graces; they should wear it around the neck. Graces will abound for persons who wear it with confidence.”*.” With this abundant grace we fervently pray for the end of abortion. “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5: 16.

As pro-lifers let charity be a guide, the miraculous medal your bullet, rosary your weapon, devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe – the patroness of the pro-life movement, and always trust in Jesus who is the head of the church. Let us never forgot to pray for those who are prochoice.

This is What All Pro-Lifers Must Do

Our Mother Mary is speaking to all pro-lifers through St. Catherine Labouré about the Immaculate Conception medal, “Now it must be given to the whole world and to every person.”

Wear the Immaculate Conception Medal with confidence and know that My Generation Will End Abortion!

PRAYER OF JOHN PAUL II

SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Second Sunday of Advent Piazza di Spagna, December 8, 2002.

“Hail Mary Full of Grace!”
Immaculate Virgin, here I am at your feet once again,
full of devotion and gratitude.
I return to this historic Piazza di Spagna
on the solemn day of your feast
to pray for the beloved city of Rome,
for the Church, for the whole world.
In you, “humble and highest of creatures”,
divine grace had the full victory over evil.
You are for us, pilgrims on the paths of the world,
the bright model of evangelical fidelity
and the ever-living pledge of sure hope.

2. Virgin Mother, “Salvation of the Roman People!”
Watch over, I pray you, the beloved Diocese of Rome:
over pastors and faithful, parishes and religious communities.
Watch over families especially:
may love sealed by the Sacrament ever reign between spouses,
may children walk on the paths of goodness and true freedom,
may the elderly feel surrounded by attention and affection.
Inspire, Mary, in so many young hearts,
generous replies to the “call for the mission”,
a subject on which the diocese has
been reflecting over the years.
Thanks to an intense pastoral programme for vocations,
may Rome be enriched by new young forces,
dedicated with enthusiasm to proclaming the Gospel
in the city and in the world.

3. Blessed Virgin, Queen of Apostles!
Assist those who through study
and prayer are preparing to labour
on the many frontiers of the new evangelization.
Today I entrust to you, in a special way,
the community of the Pontifical Urban College,
whose historic headquarters are located in front of this pillar.
May this wonderful institution founded 375 years ago
by Pope Urban VIII for the formation of missionaries,
be able to continue effectively its ecclesial service.
May those it gathers, seminarians and priests,
men and women religious and laity,
be ready to put their energies at the disposition
of Christ in service of the Gospel to the far corners of the globe.

4. “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!”
Pray, O Mother, for all of us.
Pray for humanity who suffers poverty and injustice,
violence and hatred, terror and war.
Help us to contemplate with the rosary
the mysteries of Him who “is our peace”,
so that we will all feel involved
in a persevering dedication of service to peace.
Look with special attention
upon the land in which you gave birth to Jesus,
a land that you loved together with Him,
and that is still so sorely tried today.
Pray for us, Mother of hope!
“Give us days of peace, watch over our way.
Let us see your Son as we rejoice in heaven”. Amen!

What is Your Favorite Title of Mary?

There is no right answer to the poll of “Favorite Title of Mary.” “All generations will call me blessed”: “The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship.” (CCC 971). Each Marian devotional title has personal significance to each of us. What Marian title are you drawn to and why? Ours, of course, is the Immaculate Conception of Mary. We have a special devotion to the Immaculate Conception of Mary or better known as the Miraculous Medal.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception Readings Reflection
Today is an Holy Day of obligation – sometimes I wish they would change the wording to Holy Day of celebration – and it is appropriate to reflect on the readings for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

The first reading, Gn 3:20, the woman is given a name of Eve, meaning “mother of all the living.”  Catholics know that Mary is the New Eve.  Hence, we know that Mary is Our Mother, see John 19:27.

The second reading, Eph 1:3-6, 11-12, once again has a familial character when it says “in love God destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ.”   Combine this with the Gospel, Lk 1:26-38, where Gabriel tells Mary you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.  This marks Our Mother also as the Mother of God!

We know that the 4th Commandment tells us to honor thy mother and father.  Today, the feast the Immaculate Conception, we honor you Mary our Mother.  Let’s join Our Mother, Luke 1:47, and rejoice in God our Savior.

There are many voters who are personally pro-life, yet don’t want to support pro-life laws because they feel this is imposing their morals on the pro-choice. Imagine the time in our country when slavery was legal. We can look back now and say it was morally right to impose laws to end slavery. If it was fair to end slavery, then why is not fair to change abortions laws?

Some pro-lifers focus on the quality of a person’s entire life with equal emphasis on the unborn baby. Yes, we are called and should care for the entire life of a person. But let’s think of what’s morally more important? Lunch or life? What issue is more important than saving the lives of the defenseless unborn?

Sometimes we think our vote does not affect the pro-life cause, yet with up to 3 Supreme Court Justices soon being selected, our pro-life vote counts! There are over 50 million reasons to vote for life since 1973 and 1.2 million reasons this year alone.

Does your presidential vote act as if 1.2 million babies lives depend on it?
